American solar lighting company Sol, Inc. is partnering with relief and government agencies to transport and install the solar LED lighting.

Once installed, the solar lighting will allow rescue efforts to continue into the night, as well as providing safety and security. Roadways, relief camps, hospitals and distribution areas will also be able to operate after dark.

Solar powered lighting works by collecting the sun’s energy during the day, which is stored in batteries and used to operate an LED light at night.

“We know that once our solar lighting systems are installed, we will effectively double the amount of available relief effort time,” said Sol, Inc. CEO Rick Schuett.
