Testing is currently being undertaken at the site, and if this proves successful construction is likely to commence in late 2010.

The plant will convert methane gas generated at the tip into energy capable of powering more than 3,000 homes. Between 650 and 1,000 cubic meters of methane gas is generated at the Albury tip every hour.

LMS has opened three other landfill gas projects, including one at the Awaba Landfill in Lake Macquarie, one at the Smythesdale Landfill in Ballarat, and a 6 MW project at Eastern Creek in New South Wales.
