Smartbreeze units are designed to capture the radiant heated air under a tile or metal roof, using either the heat to warm the building on a cool day or purge the hot air to assist cooling on a hot day.

The most recent installation of the 240 volt Smartbreeze units took place in Perth, at two aged care homes in Coodanup (near Mandurah) and Dalyellup (near Bunbury). There are several units installed at Melbourne schools such as Bentleigh West Primary School, and Greater Western Primary School, and Smartbreeze units have also been installed within a number of police stations including the Elmore Police Station and the Balmoral Police Station. Robert Semmel, General Manager at Smart Roof has indicated that multiple installations have also been undertaken in Sydney.
