Greenearth Energy’s plans to green Victoria

Australian geothermal energy company Greenearth Energy Limited has launched a carbon dioxide-to-fuel conversion technology that could provide emissions reductions for brown coal users in Victoria.

The NewCO2Fuels concept, driven by Greenearth Energy, involves the use of concentrated solar energy for the dissociation of carbon dioxide to carbon monoxide and oxygen.

The carbon monoxide can then be used as gaseous fuel, such as in power plants, or converted to liquid fuel such as methanol – which has the potential to be stored, transported and used in motor vehicles.

Greenearth Energy Chair Rob Annells said “We believe that our laboratory-proven carbon dioxide-to-fuel conversion technology has the potential to allow the state of Victoria to further utilise its vast brown coal resources into the future by adopting this revolutionary new conversion technology when commercially proven.”
