The Smart Home will be located in the Newington Smart Village Project, New South Wales, and will test new technologies for reducing household energy and water use, and eliminating greenhouse gas emissions.

The house will feature smart metering, alternative electricity supply and storage options such as micro generation and battery storage technology. It will also showcase the use of an electric vehicle, and monitor its charging patterns and possible integration with battery storage.
