The ISH Trade Fair in Frankfurt am Main is one of the world’s biggest exhibitions for innovative bathroom design, energy-saving heating and air-conditioning technology and renewable energy. At the fair’s 50th birthday, 2,361 manufacturers presented their latest products, trends and future-oriented solutions to over 202,000 visitors.
The focus of this year’s ISH in March was sustainability and energy saving. The industry presented solutions based on a combination of energy efficiency, such as modern heating and air-conditioning technology, and renewable energy.
The comprehensive range of products at ISH – from solar thermal energy conversion to heat pumps – reinforced the increasingly important role of renewable energy in the building services and technologies field. Buildings are among the largest consumers of energy but also offer the greatest potential for cutting costs.
One of the manufacturers at ISH was Stiebel Eltron. Founded in 1924 by Dr Theodor Stiebel, the company is now owned by his sons Frank Stiebel and Dr Ulrich Stiebel and distributes products in over 120 countries. The company pioneered heat pump technology in Germany and remains a leader in the field.

Among these were the WPL air to water heat pump models – 34, 47 and 57 – and the new WPL 14 HT heat pump. The WPL 14 HT has flow temperatures of up to 75°C and high heating capacity of 12.5 kilowatts at outside temperatures of 15°C, enabling monovalent heating without additional auxiliary heating. Two compressors perform their job on the inside of the heat pump and ensure the high flow temperatures and performance.
Stiebel Eltron’s new brine to water heat pump is available in a heating and cooling version. In Australia, the company’s WWK300A, a 303 L air-source domestic hot water heat pump is available, providing savings of up to 80 per cent compared to an electric storage water heater
