Alongside Google and Accenture, the Doltone House Group has opened its newest function centre in workplace 6, Doltone House at Darling Island Wharf. The building provides 1,800 square metres of ground-floor retail and 16,200 square metres of office space over five levels.
Functions at workplace 6
Situated on Sydney’s waterfront with Sydney Harbour Bridge views, the new function centre comprises the entire first floor of the workplace 6 building and incorporates a fresh food emporium, a cafe and several state-of-the-art meeting rooms, with a capacity to host up to 800 guests.
The building incorporates a number of environmental initiatives, while the Doltone House Group created a set of policies and plans for the internal fit-out of the venue to ensure they complement those of the building.

Exceptional efficiency at workplace 6
The workplace 6 building is designed to reduce emissions by 70 per cent. The building’s leading energy efficiency elements include:
- A gas-fired generator to generate power for the building onsite, reducing the peak load by 25 per cent. The waste heat from the generator also powers an absorption chiller to cool the building.
- Roof-mounted solar panels to heat the building’s water.
- The use of recycled materials and sustainable timber.
- The maximisation of natural light and air quality through chilled beam technology.
- High technology façade and sun shading devices to reduce heat load on the building.
- The rejection of waste heat from the building to the adjacent harbour, in lieu of the use of cooling towers – this also reduces the water consumption of the building.
Sustainable events
Paul Signorelli, Managing Director of the Doltone House Group, said that energy reduction was an issue tackled head on for the design and fit-out of Doltone House at Darling Island Wharf.
In the kitchen, natural gas combination ovens have been installed and fridges and freezers have been insulated with thick panels to reduce energy consumption.
Furthermore, with the latest energy efficient lighting technology, there is a reduction in energy use of approximately 90 per cent.
“Sydney has an outstanding international reputation for its fine food and spectacular events, and we hope Darling Island Wharf will be invaluable addition in maintaining and advancing this profile,” said Mr Signorelli.
